Sting comes to Arena on Sept. 17

One of the major worldwide musical attractions this year is the tour on which Sting has embarked this February, and which also has Belgrade on its map. His concert in Belgrade is set for September 17th in Kombank Arena, and the one thing that makes this tour particularly interesting is the fact that Sting is promoting his new album “57th and 9th” (also the name of the tour), which is his first rock project for more than a decade. Excellent reviews are also following this tour, and concerts got praise wherever they took place, from the USA earlier in the year, as well as now in Europe.

On this tour, Sting is performing with a three man band, the same lineup with whom he recorded the new album. His main support is Dominic Miller, a long-time Sting guitarist, and the author of several solo albums, as well as several hits, such as “Shape of my heart”. There is also Dominic’s son Rufus, also a guitarist, and Josh Freese, one of greatest living drummers and the former member of bands such as Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Weezer and others. Millers are not the only father-son pair on the stage, as Sting’s son Joe Sumner is one of the guest performers, as well as Percy Cardona from The Last Bandoleros.

Here is the list of song from one of recent concerts on this tour (from Uelzen in Germany). Seeing this list, it is easy to see why the tour is so popular, as Sting is performing hits from all the points in his career, all mixed with new and energetic songs from the current album.

Fans in Serbia had the pleasure to see Sting live in recent years, but not on this scale. He performed in the same venue in 2011, when he was accompanied by a symphonic orchestra, and while Sting than showed that he is still a top class singer, we still longed for a true rock concert, which the one in September will surely be. He also performed in Belgrade in 2008 with band Police, but that concert, although great, also highlighted only one period from his rich music career.

Tickets for the concert in Kombank Arena were mostly sold out during August, although some pricier tickets are still available, and they are expected to remain available until a few days before the concert. On the Eventim’s website, in the moment this article was written (August 25), all the cheaper tickets, those costing 2.990 and 3.590 RSD were sold out, but tickets in other categories remain available, including those in 3.990 RDS range.
